Capcom has been revitalizing the Resident Evil series with several remakes, which have received positive reviews and significant sales. The company announced plans last year to continue this trend with additional remakes of previous games from the series. However, the specific games being remade have been the subject of much speculation among fans.
According to reports, up to five Resident Evil projects, including several remakes, could be in development at Capcom. Notably, Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem indicated that these plans do not include remakes of Resident Evil 1 or Resident Evil 5, despite recent speculation and the previous remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4.
Dusk Golem has revealed that Capcom has begun the development of remakes for Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. Resident Evil Zero, which debuted on the GameCube in 2002, serves as a precursor to the original Resident Evil game, whereas Resident Evil – Code: Veronica continues the narrative after Resident Evil 2 and is frequently considered by enthusiasts as the unofficial third entry in the series. There has been considerable demand for the remake of both games, especially Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. Andy Robinson has further supported these assertions by Dusk Golem from VGC.
Moreover, Dusk Golem mentioned that Resident Evil 9's release had been pushed back to no earlier than late 2025, and contrary to earlier suggestions, it will not be revealed this summer.
It remains uncertain when Capcom will officially announce these games, but according to the leaks, fans of the survival horror series have much to anticipate.
